Advocates association members protesting against attacks on advocates

Angered by the continuous criminal incidents against advocates in Saharsa district, the Advocates Association of Saharsa Civil Court protested on Tuesday. Demanding security, the advocates took out a march from the court premises to the collectorate. Then demanded the district administration to provide security to the advocates and ensure the arrest of the criminals.
Many advocates including former Advocates Association President Sudesh Kumar Singh, Omprakash Thakur, Lukman Ali, Sanjeet Kumar, Aditya Thakur and Ved Prakash were involved in the demonstration. Raising slogans, they condemned the attacks on lawyers and expressed concern over the increasing morale of criminals. Advocates say that the terror of criminals in the district has increased to such an extent that they are not hesitating to openly attack the advocates.
Advocates said that advocate Liladhar Sharma was murdered on June 7, in which no arrest has been made till now. On October 10, criminals entered the residence of advocate Ekta Jha and attacked her, but despite their names being revealed, the accused are still absconding. On October 28, advocate Dularchand Sharma was shot and brutally murdered, but even after 24 hours no arrest has been made.
Regarding these incidents, the Advocates Association has demanded to curb the increasing criminal incidents in the district. He has also appealed to the district administration to take concrete steps for early arrest of criminals and to provide security to the advocates. The advocates submitted a written memorandum of their demands to the DM of Saharsa and warned that if immediate action was not taken, they would be forced to protest on a large scale.
